The surface planted with vines covers a total of 25 hectares. Wines of Domaine de la Tuffière are made from vines that are cultivated in the communities of Lué-en-Baugeois, Fontaine-Milon and Cornillé-les-Caves.
The site around Domaine de la Tuffière covers approximately 18 hectares of vines in a single block.
The majority of the vineyard is located on a particularly well exposed and well ventilated limestone hilltop at an altitude of 80 m. The soils are mainly of Turonian origin, composed of chalk, mica, falun and marl. The tufa, a limestone, is at the origin of the name of the estate.
The vineyard located in the commune of Villevêque, property of the City of Angers, was entirely renewed between 2010 and 2013. It represents 1.3 ha and is 15 kms east from Domaine de la Tuffière. It gives us the opportunity to produce a red Anjou "Château de Villevêque" and a white Anjou "Château de Villevêque".
Our commitment to sustainable viticulture and respect for our terroirs leads us to use controlled cultivation techniques in order to obtain healthy, ripe grapes. These include working the soil, grassing, prophylactic measures (leaf removal, thinning), and the choice of environmentally friendly products (we do not use any insecticides or anti-botrytis).
In August 2019, we obtained the HVE (High Environmental Value) certification, level 3.
The dominant grape varieties are Cabernet Franc, Grolleau Noir and Chenin. We also grow Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Grolleau Gris, Cabernet Sauvignon and Gamay.
